Special Sessions

Special sessions are focused sessions suggested by IAMOT membership.
Such sessions typically do not belong to specific IAMOT 2009 conference track; however, it is relevant to the MOT. The session can take the form of Panel, presentation, or a mini-workshop. It will be conducted as a normal session during the conference; however, it will be marked as "Special Session" in the program.

Career Paths in Management of Technology

There is an increasing importance worldwide of MOT "profession".  This is evidence by the increasing MOT programs in universities and the increased attention given to MOT by governments and industries. In a fast changing 21st Century, young MOT professionals find it difficult to identify the skills required that can boost their MOT careers.
The objective of Career Paths in MOT session is to discuss career-related topics for Graduates of MOT programs. The session will focus on issues faced by MOT specialists when seeking a successful career.  "Hot" issues of research and teaching and those that relates to technology policies in government and industry will be identified and discussed.

The session will assemble four speakers/ panelists who will discuss and debate on how to overcome barriers and pitfalls to succeed in an MOT academic and/or industry career.

MANAGEMENT OF TECHNOLOGY  PH.D. / DOCTORAL FORUM

Description:

The Ph.D. forum is meant to help Ph.D./ Doctoral candidates specialized in Management of Technology selecting the research topic, develop the research proposals, and  administering the research

Four PhD students will be selected to present their research activities. Other students and faculty advisors may attend the session and benefit from the debate.
Each of the four students will present his/her research activities for 15 minutes. Discussion with the scientific board and attendees will be conducted. The discussion will be directed toward the research topic, definition of the problem, the research methodology, and the contribution to the literature. Emphasis will be put on the expectation, the methodology and the proper conduct of the research rather than about the results of specific research. Moreover the scientific board will identify opportunities for publication in international reviews.  The forum should benefit all Ph.D. and doctoral candidates from all disciplines.
